On April 11, 2024, the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology (PFST), in collaboration with DepEd CALABARZON, orchestrated a training session titled "Teaching Science Beyond the Classroom through PSC Exhibit-Based Lessons and Lab in a Box." Held at Bauan Technical Integrated High School and sponsored by DOST CALABARZON, the event introduced innovative teaching methods to educators from the Batangas Cluster. The one-day training session brought together elementary and secondary school teachers, offering them hands-on experiences and insights into exhibit-based lessons through Lab in a Box. This unique approach, which incorporates interactive exhibits and practical laboratory activities, seeks to create a dynamic learning environment that nurtures curiosity and critical thinking among students.

The event kicked off with an inspiring opening ceremony featuring speeches from esteemed figures such as Mrs. Lina P. Faltado, Head Teacher VI of Bauan Technical Integrated High School, Ms. May Pagsinohin, Executive Director of PFST, a representative of Ms. Felina Malabanan, Provincial Director of DOST CALABARZON, and Mr. Emerson B. Dalangin, Division Science Coordinator of DepEd Division of Batangas. These speeches underscored the primary objective of the training: to equip educators with the tools and strategies necessary to cultivate globally competitive professionals and learners.

One of the highlights of the seminar was the insightful presentation by Professor Corazon S. Salumbides, a DOST Balik Scientist and retired Science Teacher from Jefferson Union HS, USA. Professor Salumbides emphasized the importance of experiential learning and shared practical teaching strategies aimed at simplifying science education. Her expertise and guidance in integrating hands-on activities proved invaluable in empowering teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons.

The event concluded with a heartfelt closing message from Engr. Lenard Berba, Vice President for Internal Affairs of PFST, expressed gratitude to Professor Corazon Salumbides for her dedication to teaching and for offering her expertise despite being retired. He emphasized that Professor Salumbides' passion for science and commitment to education continue to inspire educators and learners alike.

The collaboration between DOST CALABARZON, PFST, and DepEd CALABARZON represents a significant step forward in enhancing science education in Batangas Province. Beyond merely teaching science, this initiative aims to foster a culture of innovation and critical thinking, nurturing globally competitive learners who are equipped to tackle the challenges of the future.
